Harwinton, CT — March 9, 2012— CAL Business Solutions Inc, a Connecticut Microsoft Dynamics ERP software partner, released a new case study highlighting the success of Thor, a Shelton, Connecticut based distributor using Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Great Plains) accounting software.

Thor is a multinational manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemicals. The company had been using Microsoft Dynamics® SL (Solomon) for several years but new releases of the software are focused on project accounting which is not their core business.  As the business grew, it faced the choice of a major upgrade or a new ERP software package.  Thor felt Microsoft Dynamics® GP (Great Plains) had the right focus on the distribution that they needed.   They were delighted to learn that they qualified for a Product Line Transition, which is a full investment credit from Microsoft to move from Dynamics SL to Dynamics GP.

Thor turned to CAL Business Solutions, a Connecticut Microsoft Dynamics GP partner that works with the distribution industry, to install Microsoft Dynamics GP with SalesPad.

According to Robert Boyle, Controller at Thor, CAL Business Solutions was the only Dynamics partner they spoke with that could accurately calculate this investment credit and help them save money on the ERP software purchase. CAL also had the distribution experience needed for the project and the ability to provide the support and training required. CAL worked with a local Microsoft Dynamics CRM partner to help Thor replace its custom-built CRM system and take advantage of Dynamics GP to Dynamics CRM integration.
