Over 100 Microsoft Dynamics GP users will join CAL Business Solutions on May 8, 2012 in Cromwell, Connecticut (CT) for a full day of training and networking.

CAL Business Solutions, a Connecticut based Microsoft Dynamics GP partner, will be hosting its annual Microsoft Dynamics GP user conference, CAL Connect2012, on May 8, 2012 in Cromwell, CT. According to Anya Ciecierski, Director of Marketing, the company plans to have a record number of Microsoft Dynamics GP users at this year’s conference. Already close to 100 Dynamics GP users are registered with more expected.

“I am thrilled that so many Dynamics GP users will join us at CAL Connect2012.  The event is a highlight of the year for us as it is a chance for our customers to get together for networking and learning alongside our entire CAL team. On the agenda for CAL Connect2012 are two general sessions highlighting the new release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 13 and current Dynamics GP user tips and tricks.  The CAL team and partners will present fifteen break-out training sessions on relevant Dynamics GP topics. Topics include Budgeting, Management Reporter, Forecaster, SQL Reporting Services, Payroll, Electronic Documents, Excel Reporting, Paperless Strategies, Ecommerce, SmartList, GP System Maintenance and much more.

CAL Business Solutions has a specific focus working with small to medium distribution and manufacturing companies using Dynamics GP, making up a large percentage of their client base.  This year’s event will feature three breakout sessions specifically for these industries covering sales and customer service tips, logistics and inventory management tools and operation trends. CAL Business Solutions will also host a pre-day event on May 7^th specifically for Microsoft Dynamics GP customers using SalesPad software.

But the training is not the only value of the event.  New England Microsoft Dynamics GP users will have the chance to interact and learn from their peers and visit a large ISV Expo experience. Fifteen Microsoft Dynamics ISV (add on products) partners will be attending the event to show their solutions to Dynamics GP customers. These partners include: SalesPad, Azox, MetaFile, Ariett, Appolis, Panatrack, Greenshades, Infinia Business Technology, PaperSave, Redtail Solutions, Blue Moon, BizNet Software, Accellos, Altec, Flaum, MyAppsAnywhere, DiCentral, Bio Analytics. Plus two local Connecticut IT partners, P2 Automation and The Walker Group.

A highlight of this year’s event will also be professional motivational speaker, Joy Baldridge, who will kick off the event with the keynote session, “Targeting Your Time for Tangible Results.”  Joy’s signature style is high energy and entertaining and is sure to be unlike any other time management session Connecticut companies have ever experienced.

Harwinton, CT — March 9, 2012— CAL Business Solutions Inc, a Connecticut Microsoft Dynamics ERP software partner, released a new case study highlighting the success of Thor, a Shelton, Connecticut based distributor using Microsoft Dynamics GP (formerly Great Plains) accounting software.

Thor is a multinational manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemicals. The company had been using Microsoft Dynamics® SL (Solomon) for several years but new releases of the software are focused on project accounting which is not their core business.  As the business grew, it faced the choice of a major upgrade or a new ERP software package.  Thor felt Microsoft Dynamics® GP (Great Plains) had the right focus on the distribution that they needed.   They were delighted to learn that they qualified for a Product Line Transition, which is a full investment credit from Microsoft to move from Dynamics SL to Dynamics GP.

Thor turned to CAL Business Solutions, a Connecticut Microsoft Dynamics GP partner that works with the distribution industry, to install Microsoft Dynamics GP with SalesPad.

According to Robert Boyle, Controller at Thor, CAL Business Solutions was the only Dynamics partner they spoke with that could accurately calculate this investment credit and help them save money on the ERP software purchase. CAL also had the distribution experience needed for the project and the ability to provide the support and training required. CAL worked with a local Microsoft Dynamics CRM partner to help Thor replace its custom-built CRM system and take advantage of Dynamics GP to Dynamics CRM integration.

“Thor challenged us with finding ways to improve efficiency in their distribution processes. Dynamics GP with SalesPad accomplished that. And we helped them save money by recycling the system they already had with an investment credit .” says George Mackiewicz, President, CAL Business Solutions.

Thor reports that thanks to the new ERP software system they have smoothly handled 40% increase in transaction volume, saved $150k a year by not adding staff, increased speed and efficiency of order entry and gained visibility to inventory across locations and in transit. After the initial installation of Dynamics GP with SalesPad Thor chose to add Rockysoft for inventory planning and Container Management from Blue Moon to further enhance their distribution functionality.
